Our Japanese Teas
Oguri Noen has supply contracts with farmers in Makinohara and Kawane, two production areas of high quality Japanese tea.
We produce and sell high quality tea from these and other specific production areas.
We sell Japanese green tea (ocha), Japanese black tea (wakocha), Japanese oolong and Japanese aged tea, as well as herbal teas.
We also have JONA (Japan Organic and Natural Food Association) certified organic teas.

Fukamushi sencha (deep-steamed sencha)
Characterized by its long steaming time.
Bright green liquor and rich flavour.

Asamushi sencha (light-steamed sencha)
Characterized by its short steaming time.
Light-bodied liquor and smooth, delicate flavour

Kukicha (stalk or twig tea)
Characterized by the selection of only the stem part of the tea leave. Lovely aroma and mild sweet flavour.

Konacha
Characterized by a short infusion time and an easy extraction of tea's components. Made up of small tea particles (fannings and dust grade).
Bright green liquor and a pronounced taste.

Genmaicha (roasted rice tea)
Characterized by the addition of roasted and popped brown rice to green tea.
Bright yellow liquor and a toasty flavour. -
Genmaicha with matcha
Characterized by the addition of roasted and popped brown rice, as well as matcha to the green tea leaves that are harmoniously combined to make a tea that is very satisfying to drink.
Bright green liquor with a well balanced toasty and umami flavour profile.

Hojicha (leaf type)
Characterized by a roasting process of the tea leaves. Low in caffeine.
Amber liquor with a roasted aroma and mellow flavour with light caramel undertone. -
Karigane Hojicha (stem type)
Characterized by a roasting process of the stem part of the tea leaves. Low in caffeine.
Light amber/golden colour with a roasted aroma and mellow flavour. -
Funmatsucha (green tea powder; ground Sencha)
Characterized by its versatility. Easy to drink (simply pour hot or cold water). Can also be used as a an ingredient for confectionery making.
Deep green liquor with fresh aroma. -
Matcha(matcha powder; ground Tencha)
Characterized by 2 to 3 weeks of shade growing. Produced by our partner company, KAWANE matcha, the tea is grown in gardens located in the pristine environment of Japan's Southern Alps where the leaves are fed by the morning mist and pure water of the surrounding mountain rivers.
Bright deep green liquor with a rich, smooth umami flavour.

Tencha (shade grown)
Characterized by 2 to 3 weeks of shade growing (raw material for matcha).
Produced by our partner company, KAWANE matcha, the tea is grown in gardens located in the pristine environment of Japan's Southern Alps where the leaves are fed by the morning mist and pure water of the surrounding mountain rivers.
Pale green liquor mellow umami flavour.

Japanese aged tea
Characterized by Japanese original interpretation of an aged tea. Grown and produced in Shizuoka Prefecture. Fermented with traditional Japanese koji mold often used in Sake production.
A subtle dried mushroom like flavour and aroma.

Japanese Oolong tea
Characterized by Japanese original interpretation of a semi-oxidized tea. Grown and produced in Shizuoka Prefecture.
Deep golden liquor with a sweet, delicate floral aroma and very little to no astringency. -
Japanese Black tea
Characterized by Japanese original interpretation of a fully oxidized tea using Benifuuki cultivar. Grown and produced in Shizuoka Prefecture.
Red liquor with a rich aroma and mild taste.
